What can I say? Clearly, I was inspired.

Calming I

SOLD

Life can be challenging. Sometimes we just need to relax and have beautiful color wash over us.

Massage

(Calming Series)

This is a piece that undulates across the panel with a sinuous or wavelike motion. The mounds and valleys stand out from the panel so that it is three dimensionals.

12 x 12” Mixed Media on Wood Panel

This painting was published in the 142 edition (December 2021-January 2022) of the International Artist Magazine as a finalist in their Abstract Competition.

The brilliant colors and sense of movement in this piece make it seem to be emerging, evolving, off the canvas. Like we evolve in life and move on to our next chapter.

Goodness, Women, Cosmos

Acrylic on Canvas, 30x40”

While in Cape Town, South Africa, I found a book with a collection of African symbols which you can find in this piece.

The sequence of images in this piece describe a woman’s life. As a young girl you start to learn and follow the rules of the game. However, the rules get twisted & you learn……

Channeling Turner? Possible, as he is one of my favorite artist from long ago.

Coming Out

Acrylic Flow on Canvas, 30x40”

A PBS special covered conversion camps; attempts to crush a young person’s life without appreciating all that exists only exists because it is a natural option in nature. I became furious expressing my feelings in this piece. No mouth - just be quiet - that’s not normal or natural.

Reach Out

Don’t hide your uniqueness and beauty, go ahead, reach out from your cozy place.

Life Emerges

Acrylic Flow on Canvas, 30x40”

Life emerges ascending into the world open and ready to be imprinted by the experiences.

The Artist Life

15” x 30” acrylic on canvas

This piece was inspired and painted while listening to The Artist Life by Strauss. He is one of my favorite composers. This piece reflects an artist’s life; dark and isolated and then rising in a blaze of bold color and celebration.

Effusion

30” x 48” acrylic on canvas

This piece is distinguished by the metallic copper color integrated along with the shades of blue lending a crispness to the image overall.

Come Here. . .

15” x 30” acrylic on canvas

The piece was juried as Best of Show at the Rancho Cordova City Hall Black & White Plue One Show. Being a romantic, this image captures for me a gesture of love and passion in simple but elegant terms.

Fall brings beautiful colors that highlight nature as it dresses for the holidays. With the snow comes the end of fall colors, but the richness of the winter draped snow cleanses the planet for a new spring.

Smoking Man

36’ x 48” acrylic on canvas

You remember X-Files and the smoking man . . . this isn’t him. This surfaced on a laid back evening while I was free style painting and suddenly he introduced himself to me on the canvas.

You can feel the breeze from the bright spring day!

Wind

30” x 30” acrylic on canvas SOLD

Detour

20” x 36” acrylic on canvas

This is a juried gallery show winner. You can feel the rhythm in this piece as the color seems to roll along together . My painting to music seems to have clearly affected brush movement.

This painting won Honorable Mention in the Rancho Cordova Arts Council Juried Show.

Serenity - yes, peace. Visual beauty and subtle color is soothing for the soul. This piece is part of my Soothing series and I just love it.

Serenity

Byrd

36” x 48” acrylic & enamel on canvas

This was fun to paint. The many layers present as shadows behind a mist and serve to highlight the enamel color spots that glisten in light.

Devi'l’s Cove south of Yachats, Oregon is a spectacular meeting of ocean and cave embedded in the rock lined shore. When I was there I leaned over as far as possible, what an incredible site and feeling. This piece is covered in fabulous and rich texture, peaked and rough - like the waves that crash into the cove.

Devils Cove

First Step

36” x 48” acrylic and gold metallic on canvas

““Dream the impossible dream, and the world will not grind you under; it will lift you up. This is the trick. By hurling yourself into the abyss and discovering it’s a feather bed” Terence McKenna

Yes - you can!

The sultry movement, the sax, guitar, the sound. . . the colors are cool and smooth. Yes, music is a must while painting. . .

Jazz

15” x 30” acrylic & enamel on canvas

Space Sperm

36” x 36” acrylic on canvas

Its called WHAT? Well, as you can see, it would be a challenge to register a not guilty plea, I should think.

After a trip to Italy and finding limoncello, it stayed with me. Can you catch the scent of fresh lemon on this piece - only in your imagination. Yummy.

Limon

15” x 30” acrylic on canvas

Don’t Walk Away

24” x 30” acrylic on canvas

This is a gallery juried show winner. Although abstract, you can sense the risk, sincerity and hope inferred in this piece. The colors are rich, like the desire for commitment.

This painting came in Second Place at the Fair Oaks Art Association juried show.

You can feel the joyfulness, the elation, the effervescent mood - and this piece encompasses all of that in a dramatic blending of color and texture.

You Make My Spirit Soar

30” x 40” acrylic on canvas

This piece was inspired by a trip to Mendocino, CA where the night sky was so intense the lights from the small village were insignificant compared to nature’s show.

Dusk

12” x 24” acrylic on canvas SOLD

The Horse From Your Dream

30” x 40” acrylic on canvas

There were six girls in my family and three boys. My sister, Lorraine, loves horses - she loves all animals. After a trip visiting her, this image was persistent and landed on my canvas. Can you hear the hoof beat?

I love any show on the universe. Watching shows on the Hubble, the Voyager, etc. always provides a sense of peace for me. I recognize how arbitrary rules of culture & society are, how small we are, how important it is to put things into perspective - and that means, enjoy your life NOW.

Mist

36” x 36” acrylic on canvas

The Storms That Rage Thru Our Mind

20” x 36” acrylic on canvas

The image of the man’s face is distinct and emerged demanding to be predominant in this piece. Our eyes may be looking straight ahead, but our thoughts, powerful and often willful, like the image, demand our attention.

With the movement in this piece, its as if you feel the breeze hat and thick, but a breeze just the same, swooshing over the water on a summer day.

Copper Storm

24” x 48” acrylic on canvas

Copper Veil

15” x 30” acrylic and medium SOLD

Red oxide, gold, copper, bronze and umber are rich colors and deserve texture - so be it! This piece looks dimensional and the color seems to permeate the canvas behind a veil of texture and gloss.

Ariel

20” x 20” acrylic on canvas

The colors in this piece make me smile. It’s presence on a wall draws people for a closer look because it generates curiosity of design.

Purple Mountain Majesty

18” x 24” Acrylic on Canvas

The image was taken from memory of the beautiful mountains on Hwy 126 by Sisters on the way driving to Bend, Oregon from Eugene.

Covid has made all of us reflect on the life force so small we generally never pay attention - one little miniscule organism can close down economies, society, countries.

Air Bourne

Acrylic on Canvas, 30” x 40”

Three Blue Balls

Acrylic on Canvas, 36” x 36”

This piece is distinct with its bold colors and sleek images and 3 blue balls.

I just love this piece because it always captures my attention. The colors are rich and thick so that there is texture in the piece. It seemed to me to look like it’s name sounds.
